Foreign country, exotic tastes and custom agents in hot pursuit – sounds like the latest spy thriller but in reality it’s Steven Jenkins newest book – “The Food Life – Inside the World of food with the Grocer Extraordinaire at Fairway”. This is not only informative and loaded with great recipes by Chef Mitchel London but it is also a fantastic read. After reading this book I was ready to leave friends and family behind and move to New York City just to be able to shop at the Mecca that is Fairway. I cannot begin to count how many times while reading this book I suffered from hungry pains, how my local grocery store grew dim in my culinary eyesight and how my pantry suddenly became lacking. This is the book that shows you what is missing from your culinary life and where you can find it. Now, next time I run to the store for some necessities it might take me a couple of days (Mapquest says that it’s about a 30hr drive to the nearest Fairway).
